Now there is a difference between sweepstakes and contests, or lotteries. It is most definitely a sweepstakes which will give you the most bang for your buck.

Below, I’ll list some options for winning money. These should give you some ideas behind the process and help get you started!

1. Enter Sweepstakes

I’ll put this one front-and-center because it is the most tried and direct method of simply winning money.

What do you do?

You enter the sweepstakes. Then you hope you win. That’s it.

A sweepstakes is different from a contest or a lottery in that it is the most “free.” A contest requires some kind of entry, usually a display of skill like writing an essay. A lottery requires that you purchase participation. Sweepstakes, on the other hand, are free entry and free payout (the best of both worlds!)

While we know that this isn’t the absolute best option, it is a definitely way to win money online.

Do be careful and make sure you scam-check the site before participating. A quick Google search for “(site name) + scam” will tell you what you need to know.

Make sure not to sink too much money by participating in online lotteries. The goal here is to leave with more money!

3. Bet on Weight-Loss

As you may recall in my list of ways to earn extra cash in 2016, there are sites where you (and others) come together to bet on your own weight loss.

The premise is simple: bet your money, set your goal, lose that weight. If you don’t meet your goal, you lose the money. If you win, you win the money. It’s a win-win.

MoneyCroc has an interesting premise: refresh the page until you earn money. You can choose what amount you’re trying to win, and you have a higher chance of success with lower amounts of money.

The public opinion on MoneyCroc is split. On one hand, there are no explicit complaints of scamming. On the other hand, there are few explicit statements of winning money. This one is undecided, but you may as well take a look for yourself.

An option just for you SwagBucks users out there. A few SwagBucks will get you an entry into one of their sweepstakes, which will net smaller gains than a normal sweepstakes, but also have less competition.

While I can’t directly recommend that you go gamble online (the legality varies by area,) I must point out that there are ways to do it.

In the US particularly, there have been movements in the last decade to limit or eliminate online gambling. So if you are a US resident, read up very carefully before you start!

My parting thoughts are that it is absolutely possible to win money online! There aren’t quite as many ways to do it as I’d like, but it is good to know that it is possible.

While I did list some non-free options up above, I must reiterate to never spend more than a few dollars on this sort of thing. There is nothing wrong with dropping a few bucks for a chance at much more, but if you take farther than that, you might end up getting burned.
